My insurance company requires that I have five hours of RV experience. I decided to take my transition training with Mike Seager who is associated with the Van's Aircraft. Actually, the airplanes he used for transition training are supplied by the factory. I called in July and luckily someone just canceled and Mike was able to put me on his August 9th schedule. I arrived at Portland, Oregon then drove to Scappoose and stayed at Scappoose Creek Inn that is accross from the airport. There I met another RV builder, Mark Taylor, who is the other guy Mike was training. Mark flew the RV-7 and I flew the 6A. Mark has pretty good write up on our training. If you are interested, here is the link to his website. There are a few video clips too. Just scroll down the page and you will see it. Mike prepared both of us well. It is proven by the successful first flights. I had my first flight in August and Mark had his in November. I flew to Willow Run Airport in Detroit to fly chase and camera ship for Mark's first flight. You may find his first flight pictures here.
